  • History: Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMC&H) was established in 2018 by the Government of Jharkhand. The college is named after Phulo Jhano Das, a freedom fighter and social reformer from Dumka.
  • Location: PJMC&H is located in Dumka, a district in the Santhal Parganas division of Jharkhand. The college is well-connected to the city by road and rail.
  • Facilities: PJMC&H has modern facilities for teaching, learning and research.
  • Academics: PJMC&H offers the MBBS course with an annual intake of 100 students. The course is taught in English and is spread over a period of 4.5 years, including one year of compulsory internship. The course follows the curriculum prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Admission Process

The selection of candidates for the MBBS course is based on their performance in the NEET-UG examination. Online Application Forms are invited from NEET (UG) 2023 qualified candidates from JCECEB for preparing the State Merit List for conducting the Online Counselling for admission in M.B.B.S., B.D.S. & B.H.M.S. courses of Government & Private Medical Colleges of Jharkhand State.

Eligibility Criteria 

 

  • The Candidate must have passed in Physics, Chemistry,
  • Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying examination as mentioned in the Regulations of NMC and DCI. 
  • In respect of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes (NCL), the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology are taken together in the qualifying examination shall be 40% marks instead of 50% marks for Unreserved and General-EWS Candidates. 
  • In respect of PwBD candidates as per NMC and DCI Regulations, the minimum marks in qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany & Zoology)/Biotechnology taken together shall be 40% instead of 50%.

Residential Criteria

The Candidate must be a citizen of India and Local/Permanent resident of Jharkhand. The “Local Resident of Jharkhand” has been defined & identified in 7/Aa. Niti (Sarvdaliaye Baithak) 27/2002 (Khand)ka-3198/, dated 18.04.2016 of

Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasa Department, Govt. of Jharkhand. Local Resident Certificate in proper format, issued by competent authority [Circle Officer or Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) or Dy. Commissioner of Jharkhand State] is required at the time of admission in the concerned allotted Institute.

Reservation

The current reservation policy of Govt. of Jharkhand will be followed for admission in Institutes. Caste certificate in proper format, issued by competent authority [Circle Officer or Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) or Dy. Commissioner of Jharkhand State] is required for candidates claiming reservation.
