National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur) is one of India’s best engineering institutions. Institute is founded in 1960 as the Regional Institute of Technology (RIT), it was later upgraded to National Institute of Technology (NIT) status in 2002 and declared an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

The admission to the under graduate programmes is made on the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying examination and in the JEE (Main). The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) / Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) allocates the seats for Under Graduate Programmes through Common Counseling process
