The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (BIT Mesra) is a public deemed university located in Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. It was established in 1955 by the visionary industrialist Mr. B.M. In 1986 BIT was elevated to the status of deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
